Here at Hunters Element HQ we pride ourselves on making the lightest, most durable and superbly comfortable clothing. We are always on the lookout for new or improved technology so that we can make the best technical hunting gear that we possibly can. One of the biggest challenges with making waterproof clothing is the holes made by sewing machines. Waterproof, breathable fabrics have a membrane in the middle which allows moisture vapor to escape but prevents water molecules entering. Every point at which a membrane is punctured, whether by sewing machine, is a potential leak point. Seam sealing goes a long way toward combating this issue however there is still the potential for the seam seal tape to fail. Enter Exoweld.
The Hunters Element Exoweld system welds the seams of the garment together so that there are no leak points from stitching and then 2 layers of special seam tape are applied making them virtually impenetrable to water. Welded seams aren’t just waterproof though – they are very strong, less bulky and lighter than traditional stitched seams. The US Navy is even researching welded seams for their uniforms so they can take advantage of the strength and reduced weight offered by welding technology! Currently offered in the Hunters Element XTR Pinnacle and the XTR Elite Hunter, if you are serious about your hunting kits you need to get your hands on one of these now!
