Spring layering system
prepare for extremes
Nights are cold and days are hot in the spring hunting season; harsh sun, strong wind and heavy rain all feature. To stay comfortable, it’s crucial to have the right hunting gear. You'll carry light-weight and packable layers, and be prepared to use them all. At this time of year animals will do anything for a taste of that fresh growth out in the open riverbeds and new slips, so gear up and go hook in.
Build your system
Your spring layering system is made up of a base layer, mid layer and waterproof outer layer.
Your base layer should be light; the Eclipse or Core range. Your mid layer top should be a medium weight for this time of year, the Zenith series or Legacy Jacket are ideal. Spur pants and shorts are perfectly fitted to the changing conditions in spring. Your outer waterproof layers need to be high quality and high spec'd as they'll see a lot of use in spring rain. The Odyssey and Atlas range are designed with giant pit zips to dump heat quickly on the move; perfect for mild, warm and wet conditions.
If it's forecast to be extra hot Eclipse pants will keep you cool. In colder areas or an extra cold forecast your base layer for colder Alpine hunting is Core+. Add a second mid layer top, or insulation jacket. Legacy pants will keep you toasty.
